Terms of use

1. The service

This is a beta tool for interrogating official, public UK electricity-grid data. It is provided on an "as is" and "as available" basis. Features may change or be withdrawn without notice.

2. Not professional advice

Outputs are computed from public data by an automated system that can make mistakes. They are provided for information only and are not professional, engineering, legal, investment or financial advice. Always verify results using the query and validation provided before relying on them.

3. Your account

You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for activity under your account. Don't share credentials, attempt to bypass limits or security, or use the service to break the law.

4. Acceptable use

5. Plans, limits and payment

Access is organised into plans with daily and monthly query allowances; your current plan and remaining allowance are shown on your plan page. The portal is currently free — the Free plan is the only active plan. We may introduce paid plans in future; if we do, pricing and payment terms will be shown clearly before you subscribe, card payments will be handled by a third-party processor (Stripe), and nothing will be charged without your explicit consent. Your single sign-in works across all Twin Scroll Grid Balancer sites.

6. Data and intellectual property

Underlying source data belongs to its original publishers (NESO, Elexon, the DNOs, etc.) and remains subject to their terms. The tooling, derived datasets and solved-grid outputs are the work of Twin Scroll Grid Balancer. Query results are provided for your access and analysis, not for redistribution as a dataset.

7. Press, reporters and attribution

Reporters and news organisations are welcome to use GDA outputs and results as they see fit — quote them, build on them, and publish them freely. We ask one thing in return: credit GDA (Grid Data Analysis) as the source.

We do, however, restrict press access to the portal itself, and some outlets are simply barred from holding accounts. We recognise that restricting the press is not always in the public interest. In this instance that is my considered and deliberate position: I will support no person or agency that continues to bang a broken drum — prosecuting people rather than the frameworks that govern them. Barred outlets and named individuals remain free to read and use everything we publish; they may not operate an account on this service.

8. Availability and liability

We don't guarantee the service will be uninterrupted, error-free or accurate. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we exclude liability for any loss arising from use of, or reliance on, the service or its outputs.

9. Suspension

We may suspend or remove accounts that breach these terms or that threaten the security or cost of the service.

10. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
